VMware Horizon overview
Access from anywhere
VMware Horizon provides end users with secure access to personalized virtual desktops and applications. This is possible from any device and any location – whether in the company or in the home office. This flexibility supports modern working methods and increases productivity.
Central administration and security
All data and applications remain in the data center, simplifying security and management. IT administrators benefit from centralized control, allowing security policies to be enforced more efficiently.
High scalability and performance
The solution is designed to serve a high number of users, with cloud-like elasticity. Horizon supports both fully-fledged virtual machines and instant clones that are quickly scalable.
Integration with existing infrastructure
Horizon integrates seamlessly with existing IT systems, including VMware vSphere, Active Directory and various authentication methods such as two-factor authentication and smart card support. This simplifies implementation in existing environments.
Simplicity through automation
Automated provisioning and management of desktops and applications reduces administrative effort. For example, Horizon enables the creation of pools for virtual and published desktops and applications.
Optimized user experience
Thanks to PCoIP and Blast Extreme protocols, high quality transmission of applications and desktops is guaranteed, even with limited bandwidth. This significantly increases end user satisfaction.

Blast Extreme
Blast Extreme is an advanced protocol from VMware Horizon designed specifically to meet the needs of mobile and cloud-based work environments. It provides an optimized user experience through more efficient bandwidth usage and supports hardware acceleration for both encoding and decoding. Thanks to its adaptability, Blast is particularly suitable for environments with variable network quality.
PCoIP (PC-over-IP)
PCoIP was designed for graphics-intensive workloads and offers pixel-perfect transmission of the screen to the end user. The protocol is particularly useful for applications such as CAD or media editing as it compresses and encrypts the data while processing takes place primarily in the data center. PCoIP is robust against network delays, but often requires more bandwidth than Blast Extreme.
